Miles Johnson Earns 2nd Consecutive MIVA Offensive Player Of The Week

The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association has named Ohio State’s Miles Johnson the Offensive Player of the Week and Loyola’s Collin Mahan the Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Feb. 7).

Miles Johnson earns the Offensive Player of the Week honor for a second consecutive week. He helped the top ranked Buckeyes to sweeps at Ball State and Fort Wayne for Ohio State’s 33rd consecutive win. Johnson averaged 6.25 points per set with a .609 hitting percentage leading to 5.17 kills per set, while adding three aces. He had 19 kills with one error against Ball State and returned at Fort Wayne to add 12 kills on a .588 attack percentage.

Collin Mahan picked up the Defensive Player of the Week Award after helping No. 10 Loyola open MIVA play with a pair of victories by averaging 1.43 digs per set and 1.14 blocks per set. He totaled seven digs and a season-high five blocks in a victory over Lindenwood, then contributed three digs and three blocks in a sweep of Quincy the next day.
