Montenegro has named Milana Rovcanin and Nikola Lakcevic as their top female and male players of 2016. The pair were honored late last month in a ceremony in Podgorica that was attended by the president of the CEV – Aleksandar Boricic.
Rovcanin plays in the domsetic league for Luka BAR and also as a member of the Montenegrin National Team. The 24-year old outside hitter missed the first weekend of play at the 2016 European Volleyball League tournament, where the country picked up both of its wins in 3 games played. She returned for the second weekend of pool play, but saw limited action before Montenegro was eliminated from the competition. She had a much bigger impact domestically, where she plays for the reigning national champions.
Nikola Lakcevic plays domestically for Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA and is a libero on the Montenegrin National Team.
Also awarded were Katarina Budrak and Milutin Pavicevic, who were named the most promising players.
