Last Time Out

In its last outing, NC State improved to 4-0 in conference play with a 3-0 sweep at Clemson. It was the Wolfpack’s fifth sweep this season and first in ACC action.

Block Party

NC State enjoyed a record-breaking performance against Clemson, as the Pack collected 14.5 blocks to set the rally-scoring era program record for blocks in a three-set match. The Wolfpack tallied 5.5 blocks in the first set, six in the second set and three in the final frame.

The mark is the second most by a team in the ACC this season for a three-set match.

Career Outing for Terry

Sophomore middle blocker Lauryn Terry turned in a career performance versus the Tigers, charting a career-high 11 blocks in the contest. That total ties as the most by any player in the conference this season regardless of the number of sets played.

Leading The Way in the ACC

Heading into the third week of conference play, NC State leads the ACC in four categories. The Wolfpack is first in total kills (826), kills per set (14.00), total assists (780) and assists per set (13.22).

Starting Fast

The Wolfpack has started fast in matches this season, as NC State has won the first set in 12 of 15 matches. The Pack is outscoring opponents, 363-295, in the opening frame of contests.

NC State Ranked No. 37 in First NCAA RPI

After playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules through the first month of the season, NC State is listed at No. 37 in the first NCAA Rating Percentage Index (RPI) released Monday afternoon.

The Wolfpack’s listing is the highest for the program since 2013 when the squad checked in at No. 36 in the ranking on Oct. 28, 2013. Last year, NC State also made a statement in the first RPI as the squad was listed No. 88 after finishing the 2015 season at 154.

Brown One of 30 Candidates for Senior CLASS Award

NC State’s Julia Brown was selected as one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award in NCAA women’s volleyball, which was announced on Tuesday by the organization. The award recognizes seniors who excel in four main areas: community, classroom, character and competition.

Brown is the only player from the ACC to be selected.

Scouting Wake Forest

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons head into Friday night’s matchup with a 10-6 overall record, including a 2-2 mark in ACC play. The Demon Deacons dropped their most recent match against Syracuse at home, 3-1.

NC State has won the last four meetings with Wake Forest, including a 3-0 sweep last season inside Reynolds Coliseum.

Senior outside hitter Kylie Long leads the team offensively with 198 kills, averaging 3.41 kills per set. She’s one of four players from the ACC with 1,000 or more career kills joining NC State’s Bree Bailey and Julia Brown. At setter, Madeline Holt has dished out 8.40 assists per set and libero Caroline Wolf headlines the Deacs with 3.97 digs per set.

Wake Forest ranks third in the conference with 2.64 blocks per set.

Scouting Duke

Duke owns an 11-4 mark heading into the weekend, as the squad will take on UNC-Chapel Hill Friday night before its battle with NC State Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils swept Boston College in their most recent outing at home last Sunday.

The Wolfpack won the last meeting between the teams to conclude the 2016 season, 3-1, which snapped a streak of four consecutive victories in the series for the Blue Devils.
