NCAA Announces Hosts For 2018-21 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships

The NCAA has announced their selections for the following four years of NCAA Women’s Division I Volleyball Tournaments, with Minneapolis making their return to the field for the first time in thirty years.

Division I Hosting Sites Until 2021

  • December 13-15, 2018, Minneapolis, Minnesota – Target Center (19,356 seats)
  • December 19-21, 2019, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -PPG Paints Arena (19,758 seats)
  • Demember 17-19, 2020, Omaha, Nebraska -CenturyLink Center Omaha (17,560 seats)
  • December 16-18, 2021, Columbus, Ohio -Nationwide Arena (18,500 seats)

Minneapolis’ hosting duties last came in 1988, when the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, previously held the event at the Williams Arena. Pittsburgh is awarded with their first ever hosting duties for the 2019 NCAA Tournament. With the bid being hosted at the PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh will welcome in the largest location with 19,758 seat capacity.

Omaha and Columbus are making quick turnarounds as host sites, as Omaha last held the NCAA Tournament in 2015 and Columbus in 2016. Five years later, they have been selected to host the championships once again.

For 2017 the championship site has already been determined to be in Kansas City, Missouri at the Sprint Center. The event will be hosted by UMKC, Kansas and Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation. The Sprint Center is able to hold up to 18,972 people.

Division II Hosting Sites

  • November 25-December 1, 2018, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -TBD
  • December 12-14, 2019, Denver, Colorado – Auraria Events Center
  • December 10-12, 2020, Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Sanford Pentagon
  • December 9-11, 2021, Tampa, Florida – Bob Martinez Athletics Center

Sioux Falls and Tampa are the only two cities to have formally held the Division II NCAA Tournament. In 2015 Tampa hosted while Sioux Falls did in 2016 – each location hosting just years after they previously did.

Division III Hosting Sites

  • November 15-17, 2018, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – A.J. Palumbo Center
  • November 21-23, 2019, Cedar Rapids, Iowa – U.S. Cellular Center
  • November 18-20, 2020, St. Louis, Missouri – Francis Fieldhouse
  • November 19-21, 2020, Columbus, Ohio – Capital Center Performance Arena

St. Louis is the only city to host any Division III NCAA Tournaments out of the field, with six previous hosting years (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 2010 and 2011).
