Nebraska Garners Commitment from Class of 2020 Setter Nicole Drewnick

Class of 2020 recruit Nicole Drewnick has committed to the University of Nebraska women’s volleyball program. A 6’0″ setter from Carrollton, Texas, Drewnick joins Kalynn Meyer in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database for commits headed to the Huskers for the fall of 2020.

Nebraska enters 2018 with a setter shortage, after 2017 National Player of the Year Kelly Hunter graduated and Husker backup Hunter Atherton transferred to UNC.  Drenwick’s addition, though, should help them shore that position up for a long way into the future.

A sophomore at Hebron High School, Drewnick helped her team to a 41-7 record en route to a Class 6A Texas State Championship. At the high school level she plays as both a setter and pin player and individually logged 277 kills (2.1 per set) on a .219 mark, 228 digs (1.7 per set), 116 assists (0.9 per set), 32 blocks (0.2 per set) and 25 aces (0.2 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile.

Drewnick made the announcement official via her Instagram/social media page, which can be seen below:

there is s[no]w place i’d rather play for. so excited and beyond blessed to be able to play for Nebraska! a big thank you to all those who have gotten me to where i am today. it’s the best feeling to have your dreams become a reality! #gohuskers #big10 #nebraskavolleyball #huskervolleyball #dreambig

Nebraska is the reigning National Champions following a 32-4 season in which they won the Big Ten for the second consecutive season. Their 2018 roster currently features just one setter in freshman Nicklin Hames, although by the time Drewnick arrives there could be several other new faces arriving as well.
