University of Hawaii senior Nikki Taylor has been named the AVCA National Volleyball Player of the Week after leading her team to a 2-0 week with wins over Cal Poly (3-0) and UC Santa Barbara (3-1). In 2 games, Taylor recorded 37 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, with 8 aces, 18 digs, and 3 blocks.

On the season, Taylor is averaging 4.59 kills/set to help carry the Rainbow Wahine to 1 15-1 conference record and the 2016 Big West Conference title.

Taylor finished the regular-season portion of her career against UCSB with her 6th double-double of the season (22 kills, 11 digs) – but still has more to play. Thanks to their Big West Conference title, Hawaii will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship tournament.

Taylor, a 6’4 opposite from Honolulu, has won this honor twice in her career – taking it early in the 2015 season as well. She’s one of only 6 Rainbow Warriors to have received the honor.

On the season, Taylor leads the conference in kills per set (4.59), service aces (51), service aces per set (.65) and points per set (5.85). She ranks 2nd in the NCAA in aces per set, behind only Laura Milos of Oral Roberts (.74/set).
