The Carolina volleyball program is pleased to announce its spring exhibition schedule, featuring four dates of competition all in the Triangle area. The schedule is highlighted by a tournament at the Dean E. Smith Center on April 1.
“We are exciting to begin playing this spring and compete once again,” said head coach Joe Sagula. “The schedule will provide opportunities for many of our young players to gain much-needed experience in preparation for the fall season. We look forward to having many of our fans support us here on our campus as well as being able to see us play locally both in Durham and Raleigh.”
The spring season begins on Saturday, March 25, on Duke University’s East Campus. The Tar Heels will play against NC State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Georgia at the Duke Tournament held at Brody Gym.
UNC will host a tournament at historic Dean E. Smith Center, home of the top-10 North Carolina men’s basketball team, on Saturday, April 1. Competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a match between UNC and Duke. UNC will also take on Virginia Tech and UNCG.
Carolina heads over to Raleigh on Sunday, April 9, for a tournament at NC State. The Wolfpack will host the Tar Heels at Reynolds Arena. Times and opponents will be announced at a later date.
The Tar Heels close out the spring on Saturday, April 22, with a primetime match against NC State at Carmichael Arena at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition with the ACC foe will be a part of the “Art of Coaching” Volleyball Clinic held on campus on April 22-23.
“Our spring is about learning, making improvements and investing in our game process,” said Sagula. “We look forward to the challenges by playing some familiar ACC opponents, as well as some teams we do not regularly see such as Georgia, East Carolina and UNCG.”
