Class of 2019 recruit and setter Nancy Kane has committed to the University of Notre Dame women’s volleyball program.

Kane is a senior at Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, Illinois. It’s the same school that Charley Niego attended, a former teammate of Kane as a 2018 graduate and now freshman on Notre Dame who is currently second on the team in points per set (3.45). Additionally, Notre Dame libero Ryann DeJarld (4.96 digs per set) was a formere attendee of the high school and is now a senior with the Fighting Irish.

Beyond the pipeline that Notre Dame has established at the school, Kane’s parents, brother and other extended family members all went to South Bend for college.

So far in her senior year, Kane has notched 411 assists (5.1 per set), 295 digs (3.6 per set), 174 kills (2.1 per set) on a .231 mark, 33 aces (0.4 per set) and 26 blocks (0.3 per set) according to her MaxPreps page. She was also second team All-State last year as a junior when she had 883 assists (10.9 per set), 284 digs (3.5 per set), 68 blocks (0.8 per set), 45 aces (0.6 per set) and 37 kills (0.5 per set).

Standing at 5’11”, Kane also continues her prep play with Michio Chicago and the 17 National Team. Video of her play can be seen below via YouTube:

So far this season, Notre Dame is 12-8 with a 6-4 mark as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Their roster features two setters – one freshman and one sophomore – who will be a sophomore and junior for Kane’s first season in the fall of 2019.
