Nova’s Emma Decker Distributes 3,000th-Career Assist

Villanova junior Emma Decker surpassed the 3,000-career assists mark on Saturday in her team’s loss to 10th-ranked Creighton in 4 sets at home inside Jae Nevin Field House. The 6-3 setter distributed 42 assists against the Bluejays to raise her career total to 3,020, which ranks 6th in Wildcat volleyball history.

Decker is 1 of 6 players all-time to distribute more than 3,000 assists in her career at Villanova. The school record is held by Vicky Dispenza (4,123 assists, 1989-92).

The La Grange, Ill., native registered 1,163 assists (10.97 per set) as a freshman in 2016 and 1,054 (10.54 per set) as a sophomore in 2017. So far this season, she has dished out 803 assists (9.79 per set). In her career, Decker has averaged 10.49 assists per set, appearing in 79 matches and 288 sets for the Wildcats.

In addition to her team-leading 803 assists (9.79 per set), Decker has amassed 192 digs (2.34 per set), 78 kills (0.95 per set), 36 blocks (0.44 per set) and 18 service aces (0.22 per set) this year.

Villanova has compiled an 11-10 record overall in 2018 and are tied for 5th with Xavier with a 4-5 Big East mark. The Wildcats were chosen to finish 4th in VolleyMob’s preseason projection of conference play.
