HISTORY WITH THE HUSKERS & HAWKEYES

The Buckeyes have found recent success versus Nebraska, having been victorious in three of the last four meetings. Ohio State has only won once at home in St. John Arena since the pair first faced off in 1978. The Huskers own an 11-7 edge in the all-time series.

Ohio State has taken 62 of 72 all-time meetings against the Hawkeyes. The Scarlet & Gray had a 15-match winning streak snapped last Saturday when Iowa claimed a 3-1 triumph on its home court. Head coach Geoff Carlston has only lost to the Hawkeyes twice during his 10 years at the helm for OSU.

SCHIRMER HEADING FOR 1,000

Senior outside hitter Luisa Schirmer is looking to join the exclusive 1,000-kill club during her final season. Schirmer has 990 career kills – just 10 swings away from the milestone that few are able to reach.

BUCKEYES IN THE B1G

Hannah Gruensfelder bumped her average to 4.39 digs per set, which is good for third in the league. Taylor Hughes is also representing the Buckeyes with 10.25 assists per set (11th) while Lauren Witte averages 1.08 blocks per set (8th) and has a .323 hitting percentage (16th).  Luisa Schirmer’s 3.19 kills per set comes in 14th. As a team, Ohio State stands fourth in digs per set (14.87).

SCOUTING NEBRASKA

The Huskers are riding a nine-match winning streak since suffering their only Big Ten loss at the hands of Wisconsin over a month ago. Nebraska ranks 13th in the country and leads the conference after holding its opponents to a .153 hitting percentage.

LOOKING AT IOWA

The Hawkeyes are hoping to sweep the season series with the Buckeyes after last Saturday’s victory, 3-1. Iowa has one of the top defensive specialist in the league in Annika Olsen, who leads the Big Ten with 4.89 digs per set.
