Five teams in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) have secured players on the All-MIVA Team while Ohio State nabbed the #1 spot in the Preseason Poll and voted the favored team in the league.

Nicolas Szerszen is the reigning two-time MIVA Player of the Year and has been deemed the 2018 MIVA Preseason of the Year. Also making the list from the Buckeyes squad are Maxime Hervoir and Blake Leeson. While Ohio State has the #1 spot in the league and Preseason Player of the Year, preseason #2 Lewis garnered four players on the Preseason All-MIVA Team – Ryan Coenen, Matt Yoshimoto, Mitch Perinar and Michael Simmons.

Also making the list is Jeff Jendryk of #4 Loyola, who spent time with the U.S. National Team this summer during the 2017 World League.

The MIVA has one less squad in their league this season, as Grand Canyon made the change to the MPSF league this 2018 season. The Lopes leaving the MIVA was known as of last year and with five teams leaving the MPSF for the Big West, they needed to add more teams to their docket.
