Oklahoma head volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo has resigned, the school’s Ahletics Director Joe Castiglione announced on Tuesday. Restrepo coached at Oklahoma for 14 seasons.
Restrepo leaves the school with an overall record of 242-192 (.558) record. In his final season, the team was just 7-22 overall, including 4-12 in the Big 12. That placed them 8 out of 9 teams in the conference.
The Sooners’ best run in the Restrepo era came from 2006-2014, where the team made 8 trips to the NCAA tournament in 9 seasons, including spots in the Sweet 16 (3rd round, regional semi-finals) in 2006 and 2010.

“I thank Joe Castiglione and (sport administrator) Greg Tipton for being so supportive of my career and the volleyball program,” said Restrepo. “I also thank all of my assistant coaches, director of volleyball operations, support staff, fans and, most importantly, the players for their dedication to and growth of the sport and the program. It has been an amazing 14 years with the wonderful people at the University of Oklahoma who I consider family. I know that with the leadership in the athletic department the volleyball program will continue to grow.”
