Cathryn Cheek, a 5-10 outsider hitter, transfers into Drake after two seasons with Oklahoma.

In her time with the Sooners, Cheek played in 15 sets, recording 21 kills, 13 digs and six blocks in her sophomore campaign. As a freshman, Cheek saw action in one match.

Cheek is eligible to participate with the Bulldogs for the fall of 2017 season as a junior. She has also been practicing with the squad this spring. Head coach Darrin McBroom thinks Cheek has made a great transition into the program thus far.

Cheek is a graduate of Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas where she was a three-time letter winner. In her senior season, Cheek was named captain of the team and led her squad in kills. She earned Texas 6A-7 All District First Team honors in 2014 and was named as a Lonestar Volleyball All-Texas Player to Watch in both 2013 and 2014. In addition, Cheek was a two-time Texas 5A-5 All-District First Team member and helped her team to the Texas 5A State Championship in 2011 and 2012.

In her club campaign, Cheek played seven seasons with Dallas Skyline where she was named the teams MVP in 2012.

Last season, Drake went 17-15 overall and 8-10 in the The Missouri Valley Conference.
