Player of the Week
Meredith Pellegrino, Rider

On the anniversary of her grandfather’s passing, sophomore outside hitter Meredith Pellegrino was stellar last week for Rider in a pair of MAAC wins. The sophomore averaged 4.43 kills per set as the Broncs swept Fairfield and defeated Quinnipiac in four games. Against the Stags, Pellegrino recorded 15 kills with an impressive .364 hitting percentage. Pellegrino also had two digs and three block assists versus Fairfield. She ended the week with 16 kills and three total blocks at Quinnipiac.

Libero of the Week
Sofia Lopez Acosta, Canisius
Sr., Mexicali, Mexico/Arizona Western College
Lopez Acosta was once again the leader on defense for Canisius this week, totaling 44 digs, six assists, five service aces and two kills. In the Griffs’ sweep in the first meeting of the Battle of the Bridge with Niagara, the senior recorded nine digs, three assists, and one kill. Lopez Acosta then tallied 15 digs, one assist, and one kill in a sweep of Siena, registering five service aces—all in the second set. The libero then had 20 digs in a win over Marist, the 11th time this season she has recorded 20-or-more digs, and added two assists.

Rookie of the Week
Camila Vazquez, Canisius
Fr., Tampa, FL/Newsome
Vazquez used another strong week in conference play to rack up 37 kills at a .552 hitting percentage, adding on eight block assists. The week started with the freshman tallying 10 kills in a sweep at rival Niagara, setting a program record with her .714 hitting percentage for the match while also registering one assist, one dig, and one block assist. Vazquez followed with nine kills and one block assist in a sweep over Siena, hitting at a .538 clip. The middle hitter ended the weekend with a career-high 18 kills in a win versus Marist with a .484 hitting clip, and adding a dig and six block assists. In total, the freshman finished the week with 3.36 kills per set and 0.73 blocks per set.
