Bulgarian outside hitter Rozalin Penchev just finished his first club season as a part of Personal Bolivar in the Argentinian volleyball league and says he has learned many things both personally and professionally over the last year.
“In the Argentine championship I have gained a positive experience, which will be very useful for my future,” the 23 year old said. “I developed my qualities not only as an athlete, but also as a person who is very important. I learned many things and experienced different situations. In terms of the race as a whole, I’m glad we played very good matches and we met a lot of good teams. It is good to play against the big teams so the enjoyment of the sport is even greater.”
Penchev began his pro career with Polish club Effector Kielce in the PlusLiga. After earning silver with the Bulgarian national team at the 2015 European Games, the outside hitter then moved to Turkey, where he spent a season with Tokat Belediye Plevnespor. From there he was loaned out to Italian side Top Volley Latina. In 2017, he joined his current team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Personal Bolivar won the regular season title with 45 points and made it to the SuperVolley championship before falling to UPCN Voley Club three matches to one in the playoff series, including a sweep on April 7 to wrap up the year.
