Penn State Leads Four Big Ten Schools in the RPI Top 10 (Nov. 6)

The Nittany Lions of Penn State continue to take control of the RPI poll as once again they sit at the top of the ratings. They’ve got plenty of competition behind them though, notably three teams in their own conference (Big Ten) to help make up the top 10.

Speaking of those first 10, besides Minnesota (2), Nebraska (5) and Wisconsin (10) pushing the Big Ten banner, the SEC had Florida (3) and Kentucky (4) in the top five while the Pac-12 put three consecutive teams toward the end of the top 10 in Stanford (7), Washington (8) and Oregon (9). The lone exception to those three conference was Texas from the Big 12 at six.

Maybe the biggest movement came from Colorado, who has now won seven of eight matches and vaults all the way to 11 in the latest RPI just on the outskirts of the top 10. While they saw a large gain, schools like Michigan State (15) and Utah (16) both dropped a bit over the course of the week.

In terms of mid-major schools, Creighton still has the best mark in that regard as they come in at 14. Wichita State (17) isn’t too far behind with BYU (19), San Diego (21), Cal Poly (24) and Colorado State (29) all in the top 30 as well.

As far as a conference breakdown for the top conferences making up the top 50/100, that can be seen below:
