Pepperdine Beach Star Corinne Quiggle Shows Off Her Other Talents

Pepperdine beach volleyball senior captain Corinne Quiggle moved across the country from Pontra Vedra Beach, Florida, and while she lived in a beach community in her home state, she said that she was really struck by the beach culture at Pepperdine University in California when she moved there.

She committed to jumping into that world full-bore, and while she is self-proclaimed the “not musically talented” one in her family, she found one instrument that she can play that fits the culture of her new home: the Ukelele.

Below, Quiggle shares the story of how she got into the instrument, and how it has helped her and her teammates bond.

Quiggle and her partner Deahna Kraft bounced back-and-forth this season season between the #1 and #2 lines. After starting 14-1 at #2, they jumped to the #1 line seemingly for good, where they’ve since gone 8-4 this year. While Pepperdine is vulnerable at the #5 line, their overall depth is arguably the best in the country – including a 25-2 season records at both the #2 and #4 lines.

Pepperdine will begin their tournament at Noon Eastern time on Friday when they face #7 seed LSU in an opening-round match. There they’ll face LSU’s hot-handed top duo of Claire Coppola and Kristen Nuss, who are 30-7 this season. When the two teams faced off in Phoenix in late February, Coppola and Nuss swept Quiggle and Kraft 2-0: the Tigers’ only win in that matchup.

The two teams would see each other again two weeks later on Manhattan Beach, where Pepperdine’s other #1 pair, Brooke Bauer and Madalyn Roh, beat the Tigers’ top twosome in 3 sets, although the score of the overall matched tightened to 3-2.
