2017 CEV EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP – MEN

The 2017 edition of the European Championships is set to begin on August 25 and run through September 3 in Poland. There are four pools of play that will occur at the championships with four teams in each that have qualified over three rounds of play dating back to 2016.
Pool A – Estonia, Finland, Poland, Serbia
Pool B – Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Slovakia
Pool C – Bulgaria, Russia, Slovenia, Spain
Pool D – Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Turkey
Winning the 2015 edition of the event was France over Slovenia. Spain, Slovakia and Turkey are the newcomers to the final round group, as they did not achieve this feat in the previous competition. The top players for each of these countries will battle it out for the top European crown of the year, with many of the players competing in the 2015 edition.
The championships will be scored through the following process:
- 1st Criteria: Matches Won
- 2nd Criteria: Ranking Points (*Ranking points are awarded for the following results: 3-0 or 3-1: 3 points, 3-2: 2 points, 2-3: 1 point, 1-3 or 0-3: 0 points)
- 3rd Criteria: Match Sets Quotient/Ratio
- 4th Criteria: Match Points Quotient/Ratio
- 5th Criteria: ‘Head to Head’ Results
