Poland’s Skra Belchatow Will Host The 2018 FIVB Men’s Club WCH

Current PlusLiga’s champions Skra Belchatow has announced in its official website that it will host the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship. The 18th edition of the tournament will be held in Poland for the second year in a row, as it was hosted by Zaksa in 2017, a nice change of pace since Qatar and Brazil hosted it for 8 years straight before that.

Skra finished the 2017 edition of the tournament in 4th place. Here is how Skra’s management reacted to the chances of improving its performance in 2018:

“Once again, I am happy that we will be able to play with the best teams in the world. We have very good memories of this tournament when we played in Doha. We were in the finals, and we won the silver medal. Last year, the event took place in Poland and many people were skeptical about it and our participation in it. Then I said it was a chance to confront the best teams in the world, and it actually was. The experience translated into how less experienced volleyball players like Bartosz Bednorz and Kacper Piechocki played very well in the league play-offs. From my perspective there is nothing better than playing with the best and this opportunity is a great challenge and, above all, a treat for fans, because once again the tournament takes place in Poland. Playing in the finals and a title would be a great experience”  – Skra’s general manager Konrad Piechocki

The tournament will run from November, 25 to December, 2. Besides Skra, Zenit Kazan (current champions), Sada Cruzeiro (South America champions) and Sarmayeh Bank VC Tehran (Asia champions) have already guaranteed participation in the tournament. Sir Safety Perugia, the winner of this year’s Champions League, has recently forfeited its berth.
