This upcoming season in the Italian women’s league, Serbian, Jovana Stevanovic has been named the new captain for Pomi Casalmaggiore. The move to put Stevanovic in the captain role comes as Valentina Tirozzi transferred to II Bisonte Firenze.

Recently, Stevanovic helped the Serbian national team take the title at the 2017 European Women’s Championships. There she posted a total of 51 points across the competition, being a steady leader for the team. In the finals, Stevanovic put down nine points for the Serbian team in their win over the Netherlands in four sets.

Stevanovic has been a member of the Pomi Casalmaggiore team for five years. Last season, Casalmaggiore took second overall in the Italian women’s league with a 16-6 record. They lost to Novara in the semifinals of the league’s playoffs, the team that eventually took the title.

This season, the team will begin their league play with Imoco Volley Conegliano on October 14.
