Another outstanding transfer brings maturity to the Lady Argo’s program after having a young core group last fall. First-Team All-American outside hitter Averi Dyer from Bellevue Community College is the second transfer to sign with the Lady Argos for the 2018 Recruiting Class.

The outside hitter lead her team to the 2017 Northwest Athletic Conference finals with an 11-1 conference record and 38-14 overall record. Dyer earned First Team All-NWAC, NWAC North Region MVP, and was a two-time Under Armour Player of the Week.

Dyer by far had the most impressive stats on her community college team with a total of 364 kills, 239 digs and 72 aces. An extremely heavy arm and an impressive defensive range will give her the opportunity to compete for several different positions for the Lady Argos.

“We knew that we had a good player coming on a visit when Averi decided to come to campus, but the minute she stepped on the court she elevated our entire gym,” Coach Arunas Duda said. “Not only is her talent impressive, but her work ethic and desire to compete are what set her apart at her previous school. We are very excited to have more of that mentality in our gym.  She’s a great kid from a wonderful family and will also excel academically here at UP.

Originally from Kalama, Washington, Dyer graduated from Kalama High School in 2016. As a Chinook, Dyer earned First Team All-State, All-League MVP and All-Area MVP honors.

“I have chosen to attend UP because of their amazing education and volleyball programs,” Dyer said. “I felt I had good chemistry with the girls on the court and admire the coaching staff. I feel I would respond positively to their coaching style and overall have a great time playing the sport I love at the University of Providence!”
