Quincy & Ohio State Take MIVA Weekly Honors

The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) announced the league’s weekly award winners on Tuesday (April 4) for the period ending April 2. Miles Johnson of Ohio State has been named the Offensive Player of the Week. Kolbie Knorr of Quincy has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Johnson hit .387 with 4.73 kills per set in Ohio State’s three matches last week. His numbers in league play were even more impressive as in Ohio State’s two wins over McKendree he averaged 7.33 points and 6.17 kills on a .460 attack percentage. He recorded 21 kills (7.00 per set) in a sweep of McKendree on March 31. On April 1 he notched 16 kills (5.33 per set) in another sweep of the Bearcats. In Ohio State’s first match of the week, a 3-2 loss at Penn State, he had 15 kills. Ohio State clinched the regular season MIVA title with their two wins on the weekend.

Knorr averaged 3.21 digs per last week as Quincy went 2-1 on the week. He had a season-high 20 digs in Tuesday’s four-set win over Culver-Stockton. He chipped in 14 digs in the Hawks’ five-set defeat to No. 12 Ball State on Friday before digging 11 balls in Saturday’s 3-2 win at Fort Wayne. He had just two receiving errors in 67 attempts.
