Rexona Sesc Earns Fifth Straight Brazilian Superleague Title

Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro remain the Brazilian champions with a 3-2, (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-6) victory over Volei Nestle Osasco. In front of almost 13,000 fans Rexona earned their 12th overall and fifth straight Brazilian Superleague.

The match went back and forth, with Osasco not giving up and making things interesting by tying up the match twice. The fifth set was a breeze for Rexona as they jumped to a quick 7-1 lead, that they wouldn’t give up and built upon to take the final set and the championship 15-6.

Drussyla Costa was named the MVP of the match with 19 points, while teammate Juciely Barreto added another 18 – with six being blocks for Rexona. For Osasco, Tandara Caixeta put down a match-best 22 points.

Both teams will move onto the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship in Kobe from May 9-14. Rexona qualifies as the 2017 South American champions while Osasco earned a wild card draw.

Joining them at the Club World Championships are Hisamitsu Springs (Hosts) NEC Red Rockets (2016 Asian Champions), Eczacibasi VitrA, Vakifbank Istanbul and Volero Zurich.
