Former Dynamo Moscow libero Artem Ermakov is off to a new club for 2018-2019 in Lokomotiv Novosibirsk. Besides his play on the club level, Ermakov is also a current member of the Russian Men’s National Team.
This is the 3rd major pickup of 2018 so far, after adding 2016 FIVB World League MVP Marko Ivovic, and earlier this year trading for Mxim Zhigalov.
It’s a move across the Russian Superleague for Ermakov, who helped Dynamo Moscow to a third-place regular and post-season finish. His new team will be looking to rise up the standings after a sixth-place regular season finish before a loss to Dynamo Moscow in the Quarter-finals.
Standing at 6’2″ (1.88 meters), the 36-year-old Ermakov will be with his 10th different team (two stops with two different clubs, meaning his eighth club) in his career. Most notably was Dynamo, where he won the European Cup and snagged several other team awards.
For country, Ermakov has been with the Russian National Team dating back to 2006. With the squad, he won gold at the 2013 European Championship and FIVB World League and added a silver at the 2013 World Grand Champions Cup in Japan.
Lokomotiv last won a first-place trophy in the 2013 CEV Champions League, as they have also claimed two Russian Cups (2010 and 2011). They have also earned a silver (2014) and bronze medal (2017) recently in the Russian League. They’ll hope Ermakov can take them to some more trophies starting in the 2018-2019 season.
