RV Portland, 1 of 7 remaining undefeated volleyball programs in NCAA Division I, and 13th-ranked Washington put up 3-0 marks at the Boise State Classic to close out non-conference action over the weekend.

Host Boise State split at 2-2, while Cal State Northridge and Sacramento State each went 0-3 in the tournament.

Pilot senior Cali Thompson and Huskie senior Destiny Julye shared MVP honors.

Thompson registered two double-doubles, distributed 10.7 assists per set and 2.3 digs per set for Portland, while Julye hit an impressive .458 with 2.7 kills per set and 1.1 blocks per set averages.

Tournament Notables

  • Portland is one of 7 remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I volleyball following its 3-0 record at the Boise State Classic. The Pilots are entering West Coast Conference play at undefeated (12-0) for the first time and are off to the best start in program history.
  • Cali Thompson earned Co-MVP accolades after guiding Portland’s offense to 3 victories. She contributed 128 assists (10.7 per set), 28 digs (2.3 per set) and 6 service aces (0.5 per set). Reghan Pukis, who posted 44 kills (3.7 per set) and hit over .333 twice, and Shayla Hoeft, who recorded 38 kills (3.2 per set) and hit over .400 twice, were also named to the all-tournament team.
  • Washington put together a 3-0 weekend in Boise State Classic action, stretching its win streak to 4-straight. The Huskies are 8-2 entering the Pac-12 season, their only losses coming to undefeated Illinois (3-1) and Pittsburgh (3-0).
  • Destiny Julye collected Co-MVP honors after hitting .458 for the Huskies. She averaged 2.7 kills and 1.1 blocks per set, while adding 6 service aces. Shayne McPherson, who notched 24 kills (5.1 per set), and Avie Niece, who hit .333 or better in all 3 matches and posted 17 kills and 8 blocks, were also named to the all-tournament team.
  • Boise State saw two players earn all-tournament team honors, including Sabryn Roberts and Janell Walley. Roberts led the Broncos with 64 kills (4.57 per set) and hit at a team-leading .338 percent. Wally contributed 39 kills (2.8 per set) and hit .270 on the weekend, while adding 44 digs (3.1 per set) and 8 blocks (0.6 per set).
  • CSU-Northridge’s Aeryn Owens registered 36 kills (3.6 per set) and 24 digs (2.4 per set) to earn all-tournament team recognition.
  • Sacramento State’s Mikaela Nocetti tallied 38 kills (4.2 per set) and 12 digs (1.3 per set) to collect all-tournament team honors.
