The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team hosted the Crimson of Harvard in an EIVA showdown, as the Pioneers took down the Crimson 3-2. Despite dropping the opening two sets, Sacred Heart would rattle off three straight sets to takedown Harvard and advance to 5-2 in the EIVA. The Pioneers hit the west coast for a tough road trip till they come back for more conference play.
SET 1-

The Crimson jumped to an early lead after an ace, but a big kill from Taylor Bloomquist got the Pioneers on the board, trailing 2-1
Bloomquist gave the Pioneers their first lead of the night after, yet again, another kill
Each team exchanged points back and fourth till a Chritopher DeLucie kill would give the Pioneers a 11-10 lead
Each team would exchange points keeping it within no more then two points, as the score stood 20-20. Harvard would go on a little run moving the score to 24-21, and go on to take the opening set 25-23

SET 2-

Harvard got things rolling in the second set as they jumped to an early 7-4 lead. Head Coach Greg Walker was forced to take a timeout to regroup his team.
The Pioneers were back in business as they took the score to 12-12 to tie it up after a Bloomquist kill
A couple of Pioneer errors would give Harvard a 18-14 lead but Michael Comens would keep SHU in the game with a kill to move the score to 18-15
The early Harvard lead would prove too much for Sacred Heart as they would give up the second set 25-19

SET 3-

Pioneers took their 10 minute break in-between sets, and came out firing jumping to a 5-1 lead after a crafty DeLucie kill, forcing Harvard to take their first timeout
A Doug Dzema kill would keep the big SHU lead as they Pioneers were up 13-7
A big kill from Comens would give the Pioneers a commanding 17-9 lead. The Pioneers would go on to take the third set 25-19

SET 4-

The Pioneers were here to defend their home court, as they jumped to a 9-5 lead, forcing the Crimson to take a timeout after a booming DeLucie kill
Two heckling fans would keep Harvard flustered, but back-to-back Comens kills would keep SHU ahead 14-7, and force a Crimson timeout
Harvard would attempt a late comeback, but DeLucie would stop them in their tracks after adding a kill to move the score 19-12
Sacred Hearts Comens would end the set with a kill to force a fifth set 25-17

SET 5-

Despite jumping to a 2-0 lead for SHU, the Crimson fired back with back-to-back aces forcing SHU to take a timeout as the score stood 3-2 in favor of Harvard
DeLucie added a steaming kill to give the Pio’s a 5-4 advantage
Sacred Heart would solidify the comeback with a 15-10 set
