American Sam Holt makes a change to Lagonegro after starting the year with Ortona in the Italian Men’s Serie A2. This is Holt’s third season in Italy, playing with Perugia to start but quickly transitioned to Verona for a season and a half before making his way to Ortona.
Ortona is 5-4 so far this season in the Serie A2 in the Blue Group to claim the #6 rank in the lead. Holt leaves a more successful squad to try and help out Lagonegro who is struggling at #9 in the Blue Group of Serie A2 with a small 2-7 record.
In college, Holt played with CSUN, redshirting his true freshman season and playing in just three seasons before leaving to play professional volleyball in Italy. In his redshirt freshman season, Holt put away 65 kills and stepped up his game the following season with 319 kills for the Matadors. In his final season in 2015, Holt put down 201 kills and 74 digs on the year.
Holt is the brother of Max Holt, who is a regular fixture on the U.S. Men’s National Team and playing for 5-1 Azimut Modena in Serie A1.
