Savino del Bene Volley Scandicci has added one more signing, which they say will complete a massive roster re-make, and have re-signed Carlo Parisi and the rest of his staff to return to lead the team next season.

After a raucous off-season for the team, which included bringing in Italian National Team setter Ofelia Malinov, re-signing 18-year old superstar Isabella Haak, and bringing in a pair of international-caliber middle blockers Adenizia da Silva and Jovana Stevanovic, the club has made one final move that they say completes their transfer period.

That move is the signing of Valeria Caracuta, a 30-year old setter who will serve as Malinov’s backup next season. She spent last year as the starting setter SAB Volley Legnano, a team whose financial difficulties led its way at least out of Serie A1, and almost out of existence altogether.

Caracuta has had some limited National Team duties indoors, including on the 2013 gold-medal-winning team at the Mediterranean Games (a “B” team competition).

She’s won 2 Italian Championships, in 2012 with Busto Arsizio and 2014 with River Volley, and has also spent some time playing on the Italian beach tour.

Scandicci made big changes this off-season after finishing 2nd in Serie A with an 18-4 record and 50 points: which is 1 win better than regular season champions Igor Gorgonzola Novara, but 1 point behind them. Scandicci faltered in the playoff series and wound up losing to Imoco in the semi-finals.
