CONSISTENCY AT THE TOP
Stanford has shown consistency as its top three pairs have remained the same for most of the season. The only exception came when No. 1 partners Kathryn Plummer and Sunny Villapando split for a pair of matches while Plummer participated in USA Open tryouts in Colorado Springs on March 2. Freshman Blake Sharp filled in for Plummer, with the Sharp/Villapando tandem earning two wins against Sacramento State and Pacific. The Cardinal’s Nos. 2 and 3 pairings have remained intact all season, with Morgan Hentz/Amelia Smith and Courtney Bowen/Kate Formico playing all 18 matches together.
CARDINAL GOES 4-2 IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Playing six matches in four days, Stanford tallied wins against No. 19 Washington and No. 11 Arizona as part of the Pac-12 South Tournament, which was hosted by USC. The Cardinal added a win against Cal State Los Angeles, but fell to No. 4 USC and No. 5 Long Beach State as part of the road trip.
PROGRAM-RECORD WIN STREAK
Spanning from March 2-25, Stanford recorded an 11-match win streak after beginning the season 0-4. It was the longest winning streak in the program’s five-year history. The Cardinal recorded three wins against ranked opponents during the stretch.
PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE FARM
Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium will be the site of the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship, as the Cardinal will host the second-ever conference tournament from April 26-28.
