BOSTON – The 2018 season began for all seven #AEVB teams over the weekend. The reigning #AEVB champions Stony Brook highlighted the weekend going 2-1 at the South Florida Tournament.
The majority of #AEVB conference games will appear AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network’s Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Nine contests will air on ESPN3 and ESPN+, home to over 55 America East school-produced events this fall. Full #AEVB Schedule/Results
Here are the conference’s first weekly award winners of 2018.
Player of the Week
Emily Costello, Stony Brook – Gr., OH, Webster, N.Y.
- Averaged 3.46 kills per set and 2.76 digs per set in 2-1 week for the Seawolves.
- Led the way in win against Jacksonville with 17 kills and 16 digs.
- Was named to the All-USF Invitational Team.
- This is Costello’s first #AEVB Player of the Week award of the season and career.
Setter of the Week
LeAnne Sakowicz, Stony Brook – Jr., Setter, Wauconda, Ill.
- Averaged a conference-best 10.62 assists per set last week.
- Led the way in 3-2 win over Jacksonville with 48 assists.
- This is Sakowicz’s third career Setter of the Week honor.

Defensive Specialist of the Week
Emily Tanski, New Hampshire – Jr., Defensive Specialist, Plymouth, MI.
- Averaged a conference-best 6.50 digs per set last week.
- Had 28 digs and 5 assists in 3-1 win over Milwaukee.
- This is Tanski’s first career #AEVB Defensive Specialist of the Week honor.

Rookie of the Week
Paige Krenik, UMBC – Fr., OH, Foothill Ranch, CA.
- Started in all three matches averaging 2.78 kills per set.
- Added 13 kills and eight digs in 3-0 win over Eastern Kentucky.
- This is Krenik’s first #AEVB Rookie of the Week award of her career.
