A lot went down in Big Ten volleyball action Saturday night, as Maryland downed Ohio State in 5 sets, 5th-ranked Nebraska ended 4th-ranked Illinois’ perfect start with a 4-set win and Michigan State got back on track with a 4-set win over Rutgers. 7th-ranked Minnesota and 3rd-ranked Wisconsin swept by Indiana and 20th-ranked Purdue, respectively.
Indiana won its second matchup in the last 13 against Ohio State, downing the Buckeyes in 4 sets in Columbus, Ohio, for the first time since 2008 to highlight Big Ten action Wednesday night. 7th-ranked Minnesota surprised with an upset win over 3rd-ranked Wisconsin in straight sets, while 20th-ranked Purdue defeated Maryland in 4.
Ohio State earned the upset in 4 sets over 4th-ranked Penn State, while 8th-ranked Illinois fended off a feisty Indiana volleyball program in 5 sets to remain undefeated on the season. 5th-ranked Nebraska and 19th-ranked Michigan downed Michigan State and Iowa, 3-1, respectively to round out Big Ten opening week.
The Buckeyes have defeated the Nittany Lions twice now in the last 22 meetings dating back to the 2007 season. Both wins were earned in Columbus, Ohio.
