With the match tied at 2, and the season on the line, the No. 18-ranked University of Michigan volleyball team pulled off a gritty win over host Pittsburgh (19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 21-25,15-9) on Saturday evening.
It was a match of runs, with the teams trading late rallies over the first four sets. In the end, Wisconsin was too strong from start to finish in Set 5 to claim the road victory and hand Michigan just its second home loss of the season.
The Wolverines set-win streak ended at 32 after 10 straight sweeps and the first two sets of Sunday’s road match with the Fighting Irish, but the team bounced back to keep its match-win streak alive at 11-0
No. 6 Minnesota dominated the net, putting up 14 blocks and hitting at a .354 clip,as the team rallied midway through each set of the sweep.
