AVP NEW YORK OPEN
The men’s semifinals have concluded, moving two teams into the finals, with a new champion on the 2017 AVP Tour to be crowned. Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena forfeited their elimination round match yesterday, moving them out of the tournament and out of contention of a third AVP Tour gold medal.
The finals match will be held later today.

Allen and Slick secured their spot in the finals with a two-set sweep over Trevor Crabb and Rosenthal.
Slick put down a match-best 20 kills, along with four digs, three blocks and one ace. Allen added 11 kills and 12 digs in the match. Slick hit for .45 while Allen’s attack efficiency was .47 percent.
Allen stepped up on defense at the tournament picking up 74 digs at the competition, nearly twenty more than the closest competitor.

After a great start to the tournament, Santos/Schalk finally saw their end to a terrific run as they were taken down by Taylor Crabb/Gibb in the semifinals. Santos/Schalk took down Dalhausser/Lucena in the first round of the main draw, after making it into the tournament through the qualification round.
Taylor Crabb put down 20 kills, 10 digs and three aces in the match while teammate Gibb added 11 kills on a .57 hitting percentage and four blocks.
Santos leads the competition so far in blocks with 20, while Gibb is just two behind at 18. Taylor Crabb has a total of nine aces in the tournament, making him the leader of the pack.
