After the U.S. took a break from hosting major international competitions last year, FIVB volleyball will return to United States soil. The U.S. hosted a leg of both the men’s World League (in Dallas) and the women’s Grand Prix (at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach) in 2016, but hosted neither tournament in their last versions in 2017.
Now, with the newly-formed Volleyball Nations League tournament (more-or-less a slightly-tweaked version of its predecessors) making its debut this week, with one of the 4 women’s hosts being at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA Volleyball has their marketing hype in full swing.
Representing the Americans, one of the most storied programs in collegiate volleyball history, will be 3 former Cornhuskers: captain outside hitter Jordan Larson, backup outside hitter Kelsey Robinson, and reserve libero Justie Wong-Orantes.
The Devaney Center is the most popular home to NCAA volleyball in the United States, and organizers are hoping for the same sellout crowd that Nebraska’s team sees regularly throughout the season.
The men will play at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, outside of Chicago, in June.
