Logan Eggleston from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee has verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns. Eggleston is a 6’2″ outside hitter who plays for Alliance VBC and a member of the class of 2019. Last July, she was named to the 12-player 2017 USA Volleyball Youth National Team squad, one of 6 outside hitters to get a spot.
That team took a silver medal at last year’s NORCECA U18 Championship tournament, losing to the Dominican Republic in the championship game. She came away as Team USA’s best scorer in the gold medal game with 17, combining 8 kills, 3 blocks, and 6 aces. She also led the team with 12 digs.
Eggleston’s Instagram post announcing her decision:
“So excited to announce my commitment to play volleyball at the University of Texas!!! So thankful for all my coaches, teammates, and friends who have helped me get to where I am today!! Go longhorns! #hookem”
In her sophomore season last year at Brentwood High, she helped lead the team to the 2016 Tennessee AAA State Title, recording a massive 23 kills and 16 digs in a 3-0 win over Farragut in the title game. On the season, she averaged 4.9 kills, .5 aces, .6 blocks, and 2.2 digs per set, all on an efficient .369 hitting percentage. In 2014, as a freshman on the varsity squad, she averaged 3 kills per set.
This gives Texas, the 2016 NCAA Championship runners-up, a firm foothold into the future. Next fall, they are bringing in the #1, #2, and #6 recruits in the high school class of 2017.
