Texas standout Micaya White is facing a charge of driving-while-intoxicated after allegedly driving drunk in Travis County, court records show.

The initial incident occurred back in March of this year, with White posting a personal bond on March 18. According to an arrest affidavit from March 18, White was pulled over by university police at around 2:05 AM for not having her headlights on and following too closely. White admitted to having two vodka shots and Sprite around 8 PM. Police reported that she failed a field sobriety test and smelled of alcohol.

Police did not administer a breathalyzer test.

White was charged with driving while intoxicated and was released on a $2,500 bail after staying overnight in jail. Her court date is set for August 4.

Texas administration and head coach Jerritt Elliott have been made aware of Whites situation. A statement from Elliott released to the Austin American-Statesman said “We and campus administration have been aware of the situation involving Micaya White since it occurred. It has been addressed and we are managing this internally. We support Micaya in working through this process.”

White is an outside hitter for Texas, earning first-team All-American last season and was named the Big 12’s freshman of the year. In addition, White helped her team to the NCAA Tournament finals, where they fell to Stanford. She was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team following the match. White posted 479 kills on the year for an average of 4.03 kills per set on a .273 hitting percentage. Additionally, she picked up 263 digs and 83 blocks.
