We are just three weeks into the NCAA volleyball season and 2018 recruits and beyond have begun announcing their commitments to their colleges of choice.
Coming up in the 2018 season, Stanford secured the verbal commitment of Holly Campbell who will come in to help reinforce the teams middle blocking position. The squad currently has four middle blockers on their roster – two juniors and two sophomores – but Campbell will look to add a spark in that position for the reigning National Champions.
Also announcing their 2018 commitment is Shannon Crenshaw, who will attend Washington in the fall of 2018. Crenshaw has been a source of conversation as of late as she has opted out of her senior season at Bishop Moore High School who won the Florida Class 6A State Championship in 2016. In addition to her indoor spot, Crenshaw will participate with the team’s up-and-coming beach squad. Crenshaw’s former high school teammate, Marlie Monserez will join her older sister, Allie Monserez at Florida in 2018. The setter, however, did not forgo her senior year with the team and will lead the squad through the 2017 season.
Another big 2018 snag is the 2016-17 Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year, Erin O’Leary, who will stay in her home state to attend Michigan. O’Leary is a multiple threat on the court, with the setter being a huge defensive and offensive threat outside of setting. In 2016, O’Leary led Novi High School to the Class A Michigan High School State Championship behind 1,451 assists, 361 digs, 203 kills and 76 aces in 57 matches for the year.
Looking a little further past 2018, Nebraska secured the commitment of Kenzie Knuckles a 5’7″ outside hitter/defensive specialist for the 2019 season. Knuckle led Yorktown High School to the 2016 Indiana 3A State Championship title over Providence High School behind 30 kills and 18 digs.
Of course, we know we missed some recruits along the way, so if you have a commitment or transfer to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected]
