U.S. Men & Brazilian Women Lead Current World Tour Points

In 2017, there have been 20 FIVB World Tour events including the Vienna Beach World Championships that concluded last week. Of that, there have been 14 men’s events and 18 women’s events.

The next tournament up on the Tour is the FIVB World Tour Finals that will be held in Hamburg, Germany from August 23-27. The tournament will feature the top-eight ranked squads and four wild card choices from each gender.

Following the World Championships, USA’s Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena remain atop the men’s side with 4,560 points while Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes are on top for the women with 5,800 points. The teams points stretch over the course of 365 days.

Men’s Updated Rankings

As of August 7, 2017

  1. Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena (USA) – 4,560
  2. Evandro Goncalves/Andre Loyola (BRA) – 4,180
  3. Piotr Kantor/Bartosz Losiak (POL) – 4,040
  4. Viacheslav Krasilnikov/Nikita Liamin (RUS) – 3,900
  5. Saymon Barbosa/Alvaro Filho (BRA) – 3,760

Dalhausser/Lucena finished in fifth place at the World Championships. Goncalves/Loyola jumped into the #2 ranking after winning the World Championships and adding 800 points to the FIVB World Tour total.

Women’s Updated Rankings

As of August 7, 2017

  1. Larissa Franca/Talita Antunes (BRA) – 5,800
  2. Chantal Laboureur/Julia Sude (GER) – 4,520
  3. Sarah Pavan/Melissa Humana-Paredes (CAN) – 4,480
  4. Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa (BRA) – 4,000
  5. Barbora Hermannova/Marketa Slukova (CZE) – 3,640

Franca/Antunes continue to dominate the board with nearly 1,300 more points than Germany’s Laboureur/Sude. Pavan/Humana-Paredes has snuck up into the top-five this season after finishing high in a number of World Tour events this season.
