The Hawaii Wahine women’s volleyball team enters the 2017 season ranked #20 in the VolleyMob national preseason poll. Hawaii finished last season in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament, where they lost to #2 national seed Minnesota (after beating USC in their opener).
Hawaii will play at home for the first month of the season, with pre-conference tournaments on the islands in high demand combined with the group scheduling employed to minimize travel costs. That season began auspiciously, though, with a 3-2 loss to Marquette – in spite of Marquette having lost their leading scorer from last season on a transfer to Iowa.
Head coach Robyn Ah Mow-Santos will have to get her team regrouped in a hurry – they still have matches against #23 San Diego and #12 UCLA before the weekend is up.
Below, watch Hawaii’s pre-season Hype video. Check back all weekend to see the rest of the weekend’s results.
