The FIVB has announced that the United States will host the next three Nations League Finals on the men’s side, continuing the new tournament after its first year.
The Nations League is a brand new addition to the international volleyball landscape, a successor to the men’s World League and the women’s World Grand Prix. FIVB (the international volleyball federation), the International Management Group and 21 national federations founded the tournament, which ran from May to July of this year. Lille, France hosted the men’s final and Nanjing, China the women’s.
The FIVB announced that the United States would host the event from 2019 to 2021, indicating that the men’s event, at least, would continue into the near future. There’s no word yet on the future of the women’s tournament.
The U.S. women won gold last weekend at the inaugural final. The American men won bronze earlier today, while Russia took home gold.
