VakifBank Istanbul Opens New Facility, Spor Sarayi

The FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship bronze medalist VakifBank Istanbul have unveiled the opening of their new sports arena, VakifBank Spor Sarayi.

The complex was completed in 15 months with the support of a large Turkish financial company, VakifBank, who have been supporting the team and their activities for 30 years.

“Our aim is to secure sustainable success at VakifBank and our new gym will be a great asset for the achievement of this goal,” VakifBank general manager Mr. Halil Aydogan said.

The VakifBank Spor Sarayi facility is regarded as one of the largest sport’s arenas in the world, spreading over nine floors and an area of about 30,000 square feet. The main volleyball complex can hold up to 2,000 fans, as well as two separate halls for senior and youth teams.

Included in the facility is a first-class fitness centre, steam bath, rehabilitation rooms, press working room, press conference room and administrative offices.

VakifBank Istanbul joined the Women’s Club World Championships in 2011. The team finished as runner-up’s in the competition, falling to Rabita Baku. They returned to the competition in 2013, capturing the title in Zurich.
