Halfway through the Turkish League’s seasons, Vakifbank for the women and Ziraat Bankasi for the men, take the first place standing after 11 matches.

In the 12 team League of Sultans in Turkey, Vakifbank is dominating all opponents, remaining undefeated after the first 11 matches.

Following behind Vakifbank is Eczacibasi Istanbul, who holds a record of 8-3 and is one point ahead of Fenerbahce who has the same record.

Vakifbank has had a fairly easy route to their undefeated record, only being challenged by second place Eczacibasi in a five set battle. The top team is set to face Eczacibasi in their next match that is set to take place on January 10.

Leading Vakifbank is China’s Ting Zhu, who signed a one year deal with Vakifbank, which is paying off for the team.

On the men’s side, Ziraat Bankasi is leading all other teams with a 9-2 record, just one win above Arkasspor, Istanbul BB and Fenerbahce.

The Efeler League now has a playoff’s format, which will include the top eight teams in the league. The teams return to action after a small holiday break with the first match taking place on January 21, featuring Fenerbahce and Maliye Piyango.

Ziraat Bankasi’s two losses came to fourth place Fenerbahce and Halkbank. Halkbank is currently sitting in eighth place with the league after adding many new players and a new coach. The team is looking to win their third championship in four year, which is still accomplishable as they will be able to enter the tournament if they keep their eighth place standing.
