Valentina Diouf Misses Another Game With Eye Injury

Italian opposite Valentina Diouf has missed a 2nd week of action for Serie A side E-Work Busto Arsizio with an eye injury. Diouf injured her eye 2 weeks ago when it was hit by a ball in practice, and has been unable to return to the courts as doctors take precautions to avoid a retinal detachment.

Diouf sought input from a specialist last Friday, and while she no longer is wearing an eye patch, she is wearing glasses as her eye continues to heal.

Her team Busto Arsizio has done well in her absence: after beating Foppapedretti Bergamo 3-1 in their first match without Diouf, and then winning again against Monza last weekend. Vittoria Piani has played well in her absence, scoring 19 and 17 points respectively in the two games.

The team sits 4th in the top league of women’s volleyball with a 4-1 record (12 points). Their next match is against SAB Volley Legnano, who has a 2-3 record and 6 points so far this season. Things get tougher after that, with a game against league-leaders Imoco Volley Conegliano on November 22nd. No announcement has been made for Diouf’s availability against Legnano this weekend, but recent posts on her social media indicate that she’s still not back in training, either.
