VfB Friedrichshafen has accomplished an amazing feat so far in the 2017-18 season, as they are 35-0 following head coach Vital Heynen experimenting with the lineup of the team.

The lineup change moved outside hitter Athanasios Protopsaltis to the libero position during the team’s sweep over SVG Luneburg in their final Bundesliga match of the season. Protopsaltis has been the team’s leader in the league but the switch did not slow the team down. Martin Atanasov ended the match with 12 points for VfB in the win.

The 35-0 record has come both from domestic and international matches. In the Bundesliga, VfB went a perfect 20-0 in the regular season that automatically puts them in the playoffs of the league where they are set to take on #8 Volleyball Bisons Buhl in the quarterfinals.

Many of their international wins have come from playing in the 2018 CEV Men’s Champions League, where they have advanced to the Playoffs 6 after winning against Berlin Recycling Volleys in the Playoffs 12 series. In this match, Berlin filed a complaint following, saying that VfB was awarded one extra point in their loss. Barring any further action from the CEV Vfb is set to take on Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle in the Playoffs 6 series.
