Volero Zurich flies past Hisamitsu Springs Kobe

Volero Zurich wins second match at the championship with a sweep over Hisamitsu Springs Kobe, 25-19, 25-15, 25-17 in Pool B.

Olesia Rykhliuk put down 15 kills, three blocks and one ace for Volero Zurich, while Natalya Mammadova added seven kills and three blocks.

For Hisamitsu Springs Kobe, Miyu Nagaoka had eight kills, while Nana Iwasaka added seven in the effort.

Pomi Casalmaggiore outlasts Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro

Pomi Casalmaggiore fought off two match points to take a thrilling five set match over Rexona Sesc Rio, 17-25, 25-20, 25-20, 19-25, 18-16 in Pool A.

Samantha Fabris put down a team-high 22 kills to lead the way for Pomi Casalmaggiore. Lucia Bossetti added nine kills, four blocks and three aces, while Jovana Stevanovic had seven kills, four blocks and two aces.

Despite the loss, Gabriela Braga Guimaraes put down a match-best 24 kills, three blocks and two aces for Rexona Sesc Rio. Anne Buijs added 16 kills and two blocks to the effort.
