VolleyMob National Player Of The Week: Lewis’ Ryan Coenen

In the third week of the men’s 2017 schedule, red-shirt freshman Ryan Coenen helped #6 Lewis to tough five set victories over Saint Francis and #15 Penn State.

In the first match against Saint Francis, Coenen put down 12 kills on a .344 hitting percentage, also adding two blocks and four digs. Three of Coenen’s kills came in the final set of the match, propelling the team to a hard fought five set match 15-11.

Against #15 Penn State, Coenen hammered down 17 kills on a .361 hitting percentage, also contributing three blocks, five digs and one ace. In the fifth set, Coenen put down five of his 17 kills, starting the set with a kill.

Last season, Coenen was a red-shirt, whom did not see time on the court, using the season to prepare for this year. He was the recipient of the Br. David Belahanty Award – given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence.
