Wyoming’s Cori Aafedt Reaches 1,000 Assists Mark

Wyoming redshirt junior Cori Aafedt surpassed the 1,000-career assists mark in the Cowgirls’ sweep of Utah State at home Thursday night. The 5-6 setter distributed 20 assists and closed the evening with 1,019 assists in her career.

Aafedt is 483 assists from entering Wyoming’s Top 10 career list for all-time assists. As a true freshman in 2015, she totaled 467 assists (4.53 per set). After redshirting in 2016, Aafedt dished out 118 assists (1.44 per set).

So far in 2018, she leads the Cowgirls with 434 assists (6.11 per set). Aafeldt, 1 of 3 players who has appeared in all 71 sets, has also recorded 126 digs (1.77 per set) and 13 service aces (0.18 per set) this season.

In her career, Aafedt has played in 73 matches and 255 sets for the Cowgirls.

The Platteville, Colo., native has Wyoming on a 3-match win streak. The Cowgirls are perfect at home (10-0) this season and possess a 13-6 record overall. In Mountain West Conference standings, Wyoming is tied for 2nd, along with Colorado State and New Mexico, with a 5-2 mark. The Cowgirls have fallen to league-leading Fresno State (3-1) and San Diego State (3-2).

Wyoming (91 points) was predicted to finish runner-up in the Mountain West Conference preseason poll behind Colorado State (100 points). The Cowgirls did not have any players listed on the preseason all-conference squad.
