Day One
VakifBank Istanbul defeats Hisamitsu Springs Kobe
Rio 2016 MVP and gold medalist Zhu Ting led VakifBank Istanbul past Hisamitsu Springs Kobe 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 29-31, 25-18) in Pool B.
Ting had 17 kills, nine block and two service aces for VakifBank Istanbul. Teammates Kimberly Hills added 16 kills and Lonneke Sloetjes put down 14 kills and three blocks.
For Hisamitsu Springs Kobe, Miyu Nagaoka led the team with 17 kills, and Risa Shinnabe added 15.
VakifBank Istanbul out-hit Hisamitsu Springs Kobe 58-46, while also out-blocking them 27-5.
Day two
Volero Zurich sweeps Bangkok Glass
Volero Zurich rolls past Bangkok Glass in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-23) in Pool B.
Leading the way for Volero Zurich was Olesia Rykhliuk with 16 kills and three aced serves. Dobriana Rabadzhieva added 15 kills and two blocks.
Wilavan Apinyapong put down 10 kills and two aces, while Ashley Frazier added six kills and three aces for Bangkok Glass.
Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul takes out Pomi Casalmaggiore
Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul came out strong, easily taking down Pomi Casalmaggiore in three sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) in Pool A.
Tijana Boskovic led the way for Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul with 11 kills, four blocks and three aces.
Pomi Casalmaggiore was led by Samantha Fabris with seven kills.
Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul out-blocked Pomi Casalmaggiore 12-3 and out-dug them 25-15.
Rexona-Sesc Rio cruises past PSL-F2 Logistics Manila
Rexona-Sesc Rio flew past host PSL-F2 Logistics Manila in three sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-20) in the last match of the opening day for Pool A.
Leading Rexona-Sesc Rio was Anne Buijs with 10 kills and two aces, followed by Ana Carolina Da Silva with three kills and 10 blocks.
For the host squad, Stephanie Niemer put down 12 kills and Yevgeniya Nyukhalova added seven kills.
