The top-ranked Cardinal made quick work of American, collecting a dominant 3-0 victory in just an hour and 14 minutes Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C.

The Eagles welcomed the largest crowd in program history as 2,837 fans came to the match, dubbed Bender Blue Out and presented by the Marines.

A trio of players registered double-digit kill totals to lead Stanford’s efficient and balanced attack: reigning AVCA and espnW National Player of the Year junior Kathryn Plummer (13), All-American sophomore Meghan McClure (13) and All-American junior Audriana Fitzmorris (10).

Fitzmorris and McClure were dominant in the match, posting .643 and .565 attack percentages, respectively.

Junior Jenna Gray led the Cardinal with 36 assists, while junior Morgan Hentz posted a team-high 15 digs.

The Cardinal notched 14 blocks, seven by senior Tami Alade alone, to disrupt American’s offense, which hit .096 overall on the match and .000 percent in the second set alone in its first loss of the season.

Senior Aleksandra Kazala was the lone Eagle to reach double-figures with a season-high 11 kills. Senior Kennedy Etheridge recorded a team-high 25 assists, while junior Kristen Largay, who surpassed the 1,000-career digs mark in Saturday’s win over George Washington, notched a team-high nine digs.

Stanford went on a 6-0 scoring run, with Largay notching two service aces, to open the first set and led by as many as 11 in game one. The second set was all Cardinal, as the Eagles committed seven errors and tallied just seven kills in the game. Plummer and McClure closed the door on American, each contributing five kills in the finale to earn the sweep.

The Cardinal remain out East to face three-time defending MEAC Champion Howard on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
