After spending one season at Seattle University and earning 2017 All-WAC Freshmen Team honors, outside hitter/right side Anna Palmer is transferring to Memphis. Palmer will be a sophomore come 2018.
At this time, it’s unclear if Palmer will be immediately eligible and has garnered her release. However, it would seem likely she would be since she is changing conferences in making the move. That would give her three years left of play starting in the fall with the Tigers.
In her lone season of college thus far in 2017, Palmer notched 129 kills (1.61 per set) on a .168 clip, 128 digs (1.60 per set), 52 assists (0.65 per set), 25 blocks (0.31 per set) and 21 aces (0.21 per set). Palmer is originally from Louisville, Kentucky.
The loss for Seattle, who went 11-17 (7-7 WAC) in 2017, leaves them with four outside hitters/opposites on their returning 2018 roster.
Memphis, who plays in the American Athletic Conference (AAC), is coming off of a 10-22 season in which they went 2-17 in league play. They have just eight players returning for 2018, so the addition of Palmer to join two outside hitters and one opposite should add depth and talent to the roster.
